2381days since Catechesis on our FaithIt is important for us to always know our Faith and to see what our Faith teaches us. So with that in mind:-
Basics of Catholic Living:- How to Pray and Why Pause for thought.... God likes to converse with you the way you like to converse with others: he doesn't want to hear you rattle on and hardly notice him. Prayer is made of ACTS. A - Adoration C - Contrition (sorrow for sin) T - Thanksgiving S - Supplication (requests to God) Reason 1. If you had the chance to talk to Blessed Mother Teresa, wouldn't you? or St John XXIII or St John Paul II??? Christ is infinitely greater, and you have the chance every day. Pause for thought.... It can help to kneel, or sit respectfully when you pray. Your body, mind and soul are one. The way you position your body is important. Reason 2 As a baptised person, you are the representative of Christ's love at home, at work and in social situations. You will only represent him well if you have prayed. Reason 3. Don't you talk frequently, and for significant amounts of time, to those you love? Reason 4 Do you want to enjoy God's life of joy and happiness, mercy and truth, in other words his love, for ever? Then get ready with habitual prayer. THE ROSARY The Basic Rosary. 1. Make the Sign + of the Cross. 2. Consider the first mystery, then say the Our Father. After this say 10 Hail Marys, one on each bead, while meditating on the mystery. After the Hail Marys say the Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. 3. Continue with the second, third, fourth and fifth mysteries in the same way. The single bead between the 10 Hail Marys is to remind us to say the Our Father. 4. Say the Hail Holy Queen. 5. End with the Sign + of the Cross. ** Note - the beads nearest the crucifix are 2 Our Fathers and 3 Hail Marys and are offered to obtain an increase in the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity and for the intentions of the Pope. JOYFUL MYSTERIES (Mondays, Saturdays) 1. The Annunciation (Luke 1: 26 - 38) 2. The Visitation (Luke 1: 39 - 56) 3. The Nativity (Luke 2:1 - 20) 4. The Presentation in the Temple (Luke 2: 22 - 38) 5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 3: 41 - 52) SORROWFUL MYSTERIES (Tuesdays, Fridays) 1. Agony in the Garden (Luke 22: 30 - 46) 2. Scourging at the Pillar (Mark 15: 39 - 56) 3. Crowning with Thorns (John 19: 1 - 8) 4. Carrying the Cross (John 19: 16 - 22) 5. The Crucifixion (John 19: 25 - 30) MYSTERIES OF LIGHT (Thursdays) 1. Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan (Matthew 3: 13 - 17) 2. Wedding at Cana (John 2: 1 - 12) 3. Proclamation of the Kingdom (Mark 1: 15; 2: 3 - 12) 4. The Transfiguration (Matthew 17: 1 - 8) 5. The Institution of the Eucharist (Matthew 26: 26 - 32) GLORIOUS MYSTERIES (Wednesdays, Sundays) 1. The Resurrection (Matthew 28: 1 - 10) 2. The Ascension (Acts 1: 6 - 11) 3. The Gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2: 1 - 13) 4. The Assumption of Our Lady (Revelation 12: 1 - 3; 13 - 18) 5. The Coronation of Our Lady (Revelation 12: 1- 5) Pause for thought..... If you get stuck and find it hard to say something, you can slowly repeat the words of a simple prayer such as: "My God give me the grace to love you above all things and my neighbour as myself." (Luke 11:1-4) Start by remembering God is present everywhere. Speak to him in your own words. Speak to him of your faith, your hope and your love. Give him thanks for the good things in your life. Ask for his help in your difficulties and sorrows. Seek his guidance for your life. Next time - More on our faith - "how and why to Pray!" Copyright: National Catholic Register.
